On Sunday evening authorities have released body camera footage from a foot chase that resulted in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Thurman Blevins. The video shows officers chasing Blevins through a neighborhood. During the chase the responding officers repeatedly tell him to put his hands up or they will shoot. Blevins yell back at them to leave him alone to which they respond he has a gun!
Blevins claims he doesn’t throughout the chase. The officers again tell him to put his hands up or they will shoot.
as he rounds a corner Blevins yells please dont shoot me leave me alone.
It is at this moment Blevins reaches for his weapon and turns.
The officers fire first before Blevins can get his gun up.
and of course before the release of the body cam footage the community resorted to protesting with family members claiming he wasn’t armed or posed any danger to the officers.
According to the DailyMail The officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave while the fatal shooting is investigated.
