GLENDALE, AZ (KPHO/KTVK) –
Police say it looks like the man who was shot and killed outside a Glendale Circle K early Monday morning was trying to rob the woman who shot him.
Police were called to the convenience store at 59th Avenue and Camelback Road at about 1 a.m.
When they arrived on the scene, they discovered Frank Taylor, 27, in the parking lot. He had been shot. Paramedics treated him on the scene and then took him to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
At first, the shooting appeared to have been random, but that changed when Carol Miracle, 23, called 911 from her home, which is within walking distance of the Circle K, to report Taylor tried to rob her at gunpoint near the store.
“Miracle has been fully cooperating with detectives,” according to Officer Tiffany Smith of the Glendale Police Department. “During interviews with her as well as other witnesses, it was reported that the decedent attempted to rob Miracle with a handgun.”
Detectives learned that Taylor pointed his gun at Miracle’s head.
“She then drew her own handgun that was holstered on her hip, and shot him one time while she was in fear for her life,” Smith said.
