Team SIG Captain Max Michel Has a Banner Year!

Newington, NH (November 28, 2017) – SIG SAUER, Inc., congratulates Max Michel, captain of Team SIG, on an exceptional year of achievement and performance across 2017. Michel led Team USA to a Gold Medal at the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Handgun World Shoot held at the National Shooting Center in Chateauroux, France on August 28 – September 2. In addition to his outstanding performance on the world stage, Michel scored superb wins on the national level as well, earning 3 national champion titles. Michel earned the Carry Optics National Champion title at 2017 USPSA SIG SAUER® Optics National Championship held at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Florida from March 23 – 26. Michel went on to earn the Overall Champion title at the US Steel Shooting Nationals held at the South River Gun Club in Covington, Georgia from March 30 – April 1. At the Pro-Am Shooting National Championship held at the Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club in New Smyrna Beach, Florida he finished first overall in the Optics Division.

On top of his national championship titles, Michel earned numerous titles at state and sectional championships across the country.

Not content to rest on his laurels, Max Michel wrote his name into the Guinness Book of World Records for his action-pistol shooting. He knocked down 6 steel plates in 2.05 seconds from the draw with his 9mm SIG SAUER P320® Pistol. He then unofficially broke his own world record on October 21 posting an amazing 1.91 second time on his first run. This was documented while doing a demonstration, with TV camera’s rolling and in front of over 400 spectators at an Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) disabled veteran range event at the San Antonio Police Training Academy.
