A woman will spend several years in jail after being accused of allowing her husband to bleed to death, according to police in California.
Solano County Superior Court Judge Peter B. Foor sentenced 39-year-old Carissa Aldrich, to a term of 3 years in prison, to be served in the Solano County Jail.
A jury convicted Aldrich of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the killing of her husband.
According to the police investigation, Aldrich called 911 to report that she could not awaken her husband. Firefighters arrived to find the victim deceased, and the kitchen littered with bloody towels and clothes.
The investigation revealed that Aldrich’s 10-year-old son stabbed the victim in the abdomen while the woman was engaged in a verbal dispute with her husband.
Aldrich rendered aid to the victim, but failed to summon competent medical care for over seven hours. The victim eventually bled to death before paramedics arrived.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old Timothy Michael Aldrich.
Carissa claimed that her husband did not allow her to call 911 because he did not want to go to jail over the domestic dispute.
The 10-year-old boy was not charged due to his age.
