[VIDEO] Army Veteran Rescues Eagle Stuck In Tree

The bird’s leg was caught in a piece of rope that was wrapped around a branch, about 70 feet off the ground.

Jason Galvin and his wife Jackie noticed the creature tangled in the tree while they were on a trip. At first they thought it was dead, but upon closer inspection with binoculars, it was proven to be still alive.

They notified the Police, the fire dept. and the DNR. All departments said that they were aware for 2 1/2 days but there was nothing they could do because it wasn’t in their jurisdiction.

Jackie pleaded with her husband to shoot the rope. After getting approval from the DNR; Jason grabbed his 22 lr long rifle.

Competeing against heat, wind and a high sun; Jason managed to widdle down the branch and expose the rope. Where he started to chip away at the rope. An hour and a half and some 150 shots later, the bird was freed and rescued by wildlife conservation officers.

The eagle, nicknamed “Freedom” was taken to the Raptor center and is expected to live.
