CCTV footage showed people running and seeking cover as the gunmen strode through parliament’s halls, firing their weapons and hitting at least one person.

Attackers also raided the mausoleum of revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini in what was the terror group’s first ever strike at the heart of the Islamic Republic.

ran’s intelligence ministry today announced it had arrested more suspects linked to the attacks on top of six Iranians, including one woman, detained on Wednesday.

Iran branded US President Donald Trump’s reaction to the slaughter ‘repugnant’ after he claimed the nation was reaping what it sows.

The country’s powerful Revolutionary Guards have accused regional rival Saudi Arabia of involvement.

Iran’s intelligence ministry said five of attackers who died in the assault had been identified as Iranians who had joined ISIS on their main battlegrounds in Iraq and Syria.

‘They earlier left Iran and were involved in the crimes of the terrorist group in Raqqa and Mosul,’ the ministry said in a statement on state news agency IRNA.

It added: ‘Last year, they returned to Iran … to carry out terrorist attacks in the holy cities of Iran.’
