Police officer shot in Nashville; suspect believed to barricaded in hotel

A police officer was shot early Tuesday morning in Tennessee and the suspect was believed to be barricaded at a local inn.

(FOX)- The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. just outside the Cumberland Inn on West Trinity Lane in East Nashville, according to News Channel 5. A police officer told WSMV the suspect was inside the building.

Metro Nashville Police said on Twitter that the unnamed officer was shot while trying to serve a warrant.

A spokesperson for the police department told reporters at the scene that two officers went to the hotel after receiving a tip that a person staying there had an outstanding warrant.

The officers made their pressence known and entered the hotel room; while searching the bathroom, the suspect reportedly fired at the officers, who shot back before leaving the room. They didn’t see who fired at them, the spokesperson added.
