Party supply store employee refused to fill balloon order for fallen officer

This makes me sick! First off, Officer GoGo was a good friend of mine.

He used to back me up on Emergency scenes all the time when I was a Paramedic. You couldn’t ask for a more loyal friend, loving Father or dedicated Officer. Compassionate, caring and a fantastic sense of humor! I miss him, and I pray for his family in their time of grief.

That being said, I am disgusted and saddened that this type of hate exists right down the road from me. Here is what Fox News and WPXI reports:

A Party City customer claims that an employee refused to fill her balloon order after discovering that it was for a Pennsylvania police officer’s memorial ceremony.

Karly Lane told WPXI-TV that she went to the Party City in Pleasant Hills on Saturday to buy black and blue balloons for her friend, Duquesne police officer Robert GoGo Jr., who died in an off-duty motorcycle crash nearly a month ago.

Lane said she told the employee that the balloons were for GoGo’s ceremony and the employee allegedly told Lane that she refused to support a police officer and made a co-worker help Lane out instead.

“How can you not support a police officer? It doesn’t matter. They don’t know my brother. They don’t know what kind of man he was. They don’t know what he did in his job. It just hurts,” GoGo’s siter Jennifer Martino told the station.

The manager of the Party City told the station that the store supported “all police officers” and the corporation released a statement on the matter.

“Party City is committed to our customers and the community. Corporate management is looking into the matter to uncover what transpired and will take action accordingly.”
