Officer shoots, wounds Tennessee stabbing suspect

Police say an officer has shot and wounded the suspect in the stabbing of a medical professional in western Tennessee.

(FOX)- Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser says the suspect and the employee were both taken to a local hospital after the Thursday afternoon incident but he didn’t have information about their conditions.

Wiser says officers were dispatched to a stabbing at Pathways Behavioral Health Services. He says that when officers arrived, they found a medical professional being stabbed and an officer shot the suspect.

The Jackson Sun (http://bit.ly/2fWYDlu) reports that Pathways and Jackson-Madison General Hospital next door were put on lockdown during the incident. Wiser says the scene is secure and there are no other suspects.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will investigate the shooting by the officer.
