Off-duty New York correction officer shot and killed while sitting in car

An off-duty city correction officer was shot and killed Sunday night while sitting in her car in Brooklyn, sources said.

(FOX)- Alastasia Bryan, 25, was at the corner of Avenue L and E. 73rd Street in the Flatlands section of the borough when a dark colored Honda drove up and someone began blasting from the vehicle at around 9:15 p.m., the sources said.

Bryan had been in the neighborhood visiting family and friends — and was on her way to Rikers Island for a shift — when the shooting unfolded, sources said.

Her death appeared to be planned and the killer was believed to have been waiting at the intersection before she arrived, the sources added.

Investigators are reviewing security footage as police continue to canvass the area for clues.
