NYPD shoot and kill woman armed with scissors, baseball bat

The NYPD shot and killed a woman inside the bedroom of a Bronx apartment on Tuesday evening.

(FOX)- Police were responding to a 911 call about an emotionally disturbed person just after 6 p.m. Officers said the 66-year-old woman confronted them with scissors and a baseball bat.

One officer reportedly convinced the woman to drop the scissors. After dropping them, she allegedly took the baseball bat and tried to hit the officer. The officer then fired two shots from his gun, hitting her in the chest.

The woman was transported to Jacobi Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The NYPD announced it will be conducting a full investigation in to the incident.

“The sergeant was armed with a Taser. It was not deployed, and the reason it was not deployed will be part of the investigation and review,” said Assistant Chief Larry Nikunen.
