Our Very own Best selling Fiction Author, Spike Bowan has teamed up with Illustrator Taylor Cottingham and Marvel Comics Legend Mike Gustovitch to bring Spikes Novels, War In The Backyard to life in the Comics!
Spike Bowan is the Pittsburgh based Actor/ Author/ Creator of the Alternate History Genre/Fiction saga “War in the Backyard” & Comic Book Writer. He has also been a main blogger and contributor for Tactical Shit for almost 4 years. Winner of the Editors Choice Award in 2007 from The International Library of Poetry, Spike is a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served with the Marines as an 8404 Corpsman. He began writing after his time in the service as a means of relaxation and found out that he didn’t suck at it.
“War in the Backyard” is an alternate history action packed fiction series! Written by Spike Bowan, the saga is uniquely told in the 1st person perspective as it is happening in real time.
It reads like a First Person Shooter Video game. “I was told by several English Professors it couldn’t be done. I don’t like ‘…can’t be done…’, so I set out to prove them wrong. And I did.” he says.

Each chapter is told by a different narrator and all of the stories intertwine. Now the Saga comes to life with the aid of Taylor Cottingham in a whole new Graphic Novel series. Taylor Cottingham is an extremely talented Comic book artist having worked on the series “I am Michael Watcher” for GNOSIS Comics.

He has even enlisted the aid of Marvel Comics Artist and LEGEND Mike Gustovich. Mike was one of the Artists on Marvels: “New Mutants” series. For those of you who don’t know, this is the series that spawned “DEADPOOL”. Mike is now the Art Director for Spikes company Irregular Mischief Publications, and will be doing the Inks and Lettering on the War In The Backyard Comic.

Like all endeavors to create something new, it is a long and arduous process. Both Spike and Taylor work full time jobs as well as take care of their families.
