Clerk Shot in Back by Robbery Suspect, But He Pulls Out a Gun and Lands Deadly Shot

An incident in Connecticut demonstrates how the Second Amendment protects the nation by allowing citizens to defend themselves against criminals.

According to WVIT-TV, two people wearing black ski masks entered a clothing store in East Hartford around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Following a brief struggle, one of the suspects drew a gun and shot the store owner in the back. According to the report, the owner then produced his own guns and returned fire, striking the suspect several times.

When the cops arrived, they took both the owner and the suspect to the hospital, where the suspect died later.

According to WVIT, the store owner is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

During the struggle, the other suspect fled and is still at large.

This is yet another example of why the right to keep and bear arms is critical in providing Americans with a means of self-defense.

Consider the possibility that this store owner did not have a gun. He’d already been shot in the back, and the suspect could have shot or killed him again.

However, because the store owner had his own guns, he was able to stop the robber and save his own life.

We’ve seen what happens when would-be criminals are confronted by law-abiding, well-trained gun owners time and again. Their crimes are frequently stopped in their tracks.

In Arizona, for example, an armed would-be robber has shot dead at a Chevron station a few weeks ago when an armed employee took advantage of a distraction to shoot the suspect.

Such stories serve as a warning to other would-be criminals about the potential consequences of their actions. So, yes, the Second Amendment works to reduce crime and save lives.

In contrast, we have seen time and again that anti-gun laws enacted in the name of reducing violent crime do nothing to reduce crime.

Many leftist-run cities and states that have enacted strict anti-gun legislation have some of the highest crime rates in the country because criminals can get around those laws and citizens have no way of defending themselves.

All of Illinois’ strict anti-gun laws, for example, did not prevent a criminal from carrying out a mass shooting in Highland Park, outside of Chicago, last summer.

If we want to reduce crime in this country, we must defend the Second Amendment and provide citizens with the means to defend themselves against violent criminals.

This is one of the few things that will deter criminals from committing violent crimes.
