Ex-Cop Killed By Gunfire After Another Violent Call To His Home

Kyle Lobo, an ex-cop, “voluntarily” left the San Marcos, Texas Police Department in October after hitting and kicking an 11-year-old boy and “head-butting” his wife. He was dismissed and resigned after being arrested at the time of the incidents. After being accused of harming a child and “continuous familial violence against a family member,” he was released on bond.

Lobo enjoyed the holiday season late on Christmas Eve by becoming wasted and carrying and displaying a firearm. After Lobo allegedly assaulted another apartment complex resident, police were called. After a series of events, Lobo pulled a gun on his former coworkers in law enforcement, and as you can guess, it did not fare well for him.

The good news is that before he started shooting, he had given a little child to someone else. He was repeatedly shot by the cops before passing away at the nearby hospital.

Thankfully, none of the police involved suffered any physical injuries, but killing someone, especially a former coworker cop, must be difficult mentally.

From the Austin American-Statesman:

A woman called 911 and told the operator that Kyle Lobo, 36, had been drinking and holding a gun at the Grand at Stonecreek apartments, according to authorities. The caller also claimed that Lobo had assaulted a resident, San Marcos police said in a statement.

Officers encountered Lobo outside of the apartment holding a child, police said, and Lobo eventually handed the child to the 911 caller.

Lobo then drew a handgun, and police shot him, police said. First responders took Lobo to Ascension Seton Hays hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

This situation seems to qualify as “suicide by cop.” Whatever Lobo’s thoughts (or lack thereof) may have been, he has left his family’s children with the experience of seeing their father’s murder on Christmas. They won’t be able to forget that at any time.
