The Media is at it again! Any tiny little comment or action our New President does is under close scrutiny and ready to be spun into an extravagant tale to make POTUS look incompetent and feeble.
This latest barrage comes from a comment the President made about our troops in Iraq. He was quoted saying,
“We are doing really well in Iraq,” Trump said before a group of senators and their spouses at the White House. “Our soldiers are fighting, and fighting like never before, and the results are very good, so I just wanted to let everyone know.”
This almost instantaneously blew up all over social media with chants and screams about how the President is disrespecting the troops, Veterans and how POTUS has no clue as to what our troops are even doing in the Middle East.
For Petes sake, people. Give it a rest!
It’s Donald Trump. He’s showy, and loud. He uses colloquialisms, hyperbole and florid prose like they were his bread and butter. It wasn’t an insult.
He wasn’t slighting the efforts of others that have fought in the past, nor was he disrespecting the troops. As a matter of fact, he is actually telling the truth.
According to news.groopspeak.com, Press Secretary Spicer was called out on this:
“Press Secretary Sean Spicer was called out for Trump’s comment during his daily briefing on Wednesday when a reporter brought up the fact that troops currently on the ground in Iraq are only there for a “support role.” They aren’t even fighting.”
Here is the flip side of the coin, our troops are there in a “Supportive Role”, to include artillery barrages, airstrikes, drone strikes, etc…” ….umm that’s called fighting….just saying.
One US Marine Tweeted in response to POTUS’ comment,
“Um no we are not “fighting like never before.” We are in a support role. What are you doing?”
Really Devil Dog? You might be in a supportive role cleaning the latrine, but others are fighting. You’re a grunt, I doubt you have access to the battle plans and strategies. Put the damn twitter down and get back to work leatherneck.
Our troops may not be on the “Frontlines” but they’re still fighting. Also, we are sending 2 companies of 82nd Airborne to Mosul to aid in the fight against the REAL enemy. ISIS. You don’t send the “All American” Paratroopers in for “support”, that would be like sending Chuck Norris to mop the floors.
Also, there are dozens upon dozens of Special Operations being carried out right now, at this very moment that we don’t even know about; and the President does.
The real fight is against a socio-political radical enemy that wants nothing more than to kill everyone that isn’t them. Maybe we should focus on the enemy that is real and slaughtering innocents by the tens of thousands, than focus on the pretend enemy certain Americans imagine is behind the desk in the oval office.
