Chicago Rings in the New Year With Six Homicides….

Violent criminals and gang members in the Windy City made sure that Chicago will retain the title of Murder CityTM in 2023 in a “hold my beer” moment. Six murders were committed by criminals to ring in the new year.

In a stolen car, three more armed adolescents suffered grave injuries and might not make it out alive. Her Honor Mayor Lori Lightfoot, however, remained silent about the violence and most likely decided to spend the holiday at her house in Michigan.

Four young men were shot on January 1 as they left the chapel. Regarding the church aspect, I’m joking. They were riding in a stolen KIA, armed to the teeth, when a green SUV that was “presumably stolen” pulled up next to them and started firing with several different weapons, including shots that were rifle-caliber, shredding the armed occupants of the stolen car.

One of the inmates received at least 16 gunshot wounds. With their own gunshot wounds, the others barely managed to stay alive.

It was a heck of a day. Hey Jackass recorded the mayhem . . .

The Chicago Journal had more details on the four youths who were ambushed in the KIA:

Police said four (4) teenage victims were riding in a silver KIA sedan that was heading southbound on Prairie Avenue when another vehicle pulled up alongside. An unknown offender inside that vehicle fired shots into the silver KIA, believed to be from a rifle, striking all four of the teenagers.

The victims and their injuries are as follows:

    • 14-year-old male. Multiple gunshots to the body. Critical condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
    • 15-year-old male. Multiple gunshots to the body. Critical condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
    • 17-year-old male. Multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Critical condition at University of Chicago Hospital.
    • 17-year-old male. Shot sixteen (16) times to the body. Pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no one in custody but officials did say they recovered a weapon at the scene inside the car the victims were driving, which was also reported stolen on December 30th, according to @SPOTNEWSonIG and other scanner traffic listeners.

It’s interesting what these “alternative” journalists find out during their investigations that the Sun-Times, Tribune, and other outlets in the mainstream media scrub out of their stories.

On the streets of Chicago, violent criminal gangs (and violent criminal gangs) operate freely. Consider these two, who over the holiday break perpetrated an armed robbery across from a school.

On New Year’s Eve, I tuned into the scanner traffic at CrimeIsDown.com for the Chicago Police and Fire Departments. Even at 8 o’clock in the evening, after listening for less than an hour, I rapidly lost track of how many “shots fired” transmissions there were. Then heartbreaking news of a 10-year-old who had been shot in the face and calls of additional gunfire appeared.

Chicago indeed has the biggest open-air shooting range in the country, and business is booming. 734 killings, including 665 shooting deaths, occurred in the city by the end of 2022. Actually, that number was lower than in 2021, but 2023 is off to a flying start.
