He asked for an officer to give him a free ride to the Merritt Island Hooters, in order to be able to help his grandmother and accompany her to the hospital.
Police gave him a ride from 7-Eleven to the Hooters. When they arrived at the Hooters parking lot, Hinkle jumped out of the police cruiser and ran way.
There was no sign of Hinkle’s grandmother. After a 3 hour search, police found 79-year-old Gayle Strickland in good health.
She told police that she did not suffer a stroke and never called her grandson for help. Police searched for Hinkle, and they found him at a Burger King near Hooters, where he helped his girlfriend fix her car.
