Joe Biden declared war on the Second Amendment during his first days in office, and now he is escalating his campaign to remove our liberties to new heights.
According to The Washington Post, Biden’s aggressive Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is preparing to implement new rules requiring background checks on more gun transactions.
“The rules would codify changes outlined in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which was signed by [Biden] in June 2022 and was the nation’s most significant gun-control legislation in 30 years,” the Post explained.
The measures are intended to close the imaginary “gun show loophole” that leftists have been ranting about for years.
Biden wants persons who sell guns privately — that is, those who do not do so for a living — to be required to obtain a federal firearms dealer license. Then he wants to require everybody who buys a gun from them to go through a costly background check.
Private vendors have not previously faced these requirements.
This means that unless you go through the rigorous process of becoming a gun dealer, you won’t be able to sell your father’s old pistol to your neighbor for a few dollars.
“The rules, which could be challenged in court, will be finalized and enacted after a 90-day public comment period,” the Post reported on Thursday.
Erich Pratt, senior vice president of Gun Owners of America, blasted the onerous new rules in a news release, saying, “Now, anyone who sells a single firearm in a given year and makes even a penny of profit will be subject to dealer requirements, including a background check.
“People need to realize this is just the next step in the anti-gunner’s long-form playbook to enact backdoor universal registration of firearms, and eventually, to confiscate all firearms. They will not stop until that day.”
Biden has thrown as many restrictions against the wall as he can to limit the rights of law-abiding gun owners while doing little to prevent actual gun violence.
For example, soon after assuming office, Biden issued an executive order prohibiting the use of pistol braces, which leftists constantly deny by claiming they turn guns into “automatic weapons.”
Simultaneously, his first nomination for ATF Director was an anti-gun extremist called David Chipman, whom he later had to withdraw due to Chipman’s radicalism.
The next year, he went back at it, introducing massive dealer regulations to make guns harder to sell and thus more expensive to buy.
The irony here is that none of Biden’s regulations apply to criminals.
Criminals do not attend gun shows or purchase firearms from law-abiding neighbors. All of these directives and restrictions merely make it more difficult for ordinary Americans to exercise their right to keep and carry arms.
All of this is well known to Biden and his gun-grabbing bureaucrats. But they don’t care because the purpose isn’t to prevent crime or apprehend criminals.
The idea is to transform law-abiding Americans into criminals so that the government can seize their firearms.
