Authorities secured the Capitol Wednesday evening after it was breached security and stormed the building hours earlier, resulting in the fatal shooting of a woman, the evacuation of several buildings and lawmakers donning gas masks while barricading inside.
The woman was shot in the chest and transported from the building just before 3 p.m., the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department told Fox News. It was not clear who fired the shot or what led to the shooting.
