Watch Unruly Passenger OC sprayed on D.C. Redline!

She did say “Go ahead” What did she think was going to happen?

A woman on the Redline train in D.C. was pepper sprayed after refusing to get of the train. The short clip did not show what led up to the altercation other than the unruly passenger pulling away from the officer and shrieking as he tried to get her to exit the train he deployed a short burst of OC spray to try and gain control of the situation.

According to abc7 A Twitter user posted the video at 3:14 p.m. and said, “The spray filled the car and we had to evacuate. I’m still coughing and my eyes sting. I hope this young woman is ok.”

WMATA reports that the incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. while the train was stopped at NoMa-Gallaudet station. After he releases the pepper spray, the officer can be heard saying “OC utilized” into his radio as he exits the train.

“It is important to note that cell phone video often fails to capture the full context of an interaction, and in this incident, the officer had escorted the individual off of one railcar when she resisted the officer, reboarded the train in a different car and sat down,” WMATA said in a statement.

WMATA noted that each use of force by one of their MTPD officers is reviewed by command staff…
