A memorial in Venice, Calif., for Vietnam troops who went missing in action has been vandalized with graffiti for the second time in the past year, sparking a new round of anger.

(FOX)- The memorial was vandalized on Memorial Day weekend of 2016. In January, Angel Castro, 24, was sentenced to four years in state prison after being charged with vandalism and robbery in connection with the incident, according to the LA Times. He pleaded no contest to the charges.

The coverage from the first incident had dozens of volunteers coming to help clean up the graffiti, but dozens of the 2,237 names were wiped away from the memorial.

The Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) tracked down the full list of names from the original artist, Patrick Stewart.

“This is a great investigative piece of our work,” SPARC Founder Judy Baca told KCBS/KCAL.

SPARC will begin the memorial restoration within a week. Once it is finished, an invisible protective coating will be applied to allow easy clean up if another vandalism incident occurs.
