Two UnitedStates special operations soldiers were killed and six others were wounded when an Afghan soldier opened fire on them with a machine gun during an operation in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. An Afghan soldier was also killed, but remains unidentified, with another three also being wounded.

The two American soldiers have been identified as Sgt. 1st Class Javier Jaguar Gutierrez of San Antonio, Texas, and Sgt. 1st Class Antonio Rey Rodriguez of Las Cruces, N.M. Both were assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). The motive behind the shooting is unknown.

This incident has not been claimed by any group nor been deemed an insider attack.
