Officer Killed Night after christmas Gunman at large!

An officer was shot hours after he had taken this photo with his family on Christmas.

ACB10 Reports NEWMAN, Calif. — Residents of Newman began dropping off flowers and blue balloons outside of the Police Department just after noon Wednesday. This, after the tragic death of Corporal Ronil Singh.

The flowers quickly became a makeshift memorial for the 33-year-old, who was shot and killed down while on a routine traffic stop.

“I’m just heartbroken my whole family is, this is a big loss for everyone,” said Lisa Mykels. “It’s the holidays right now this is just awful.”

In an Instagram post, the Newman Police K9 Association shared their heartbreak, writing that, “Ronil was an incredible officer and an even better man and friend who will be missed deeply.”

The non-profit also shared information about a memorial fund for Cpl. Singh.

Jose Garcia has been a resident of Newman for over 20 years. He says his son was a friend of Cpl. Singh, and described him as kind and honorable.

“Everyone in this town is heartbroken, he did not deserve this,” Garcia said.

A group of women hung blue ribbons in honor of Officer Singh on Main Street next to the Newman Police department. They call themselves Blue Line Wives, and are a support group and wives of Newman Police…
