Moms Demand Action, Giffords & Everytown Now Control the ATF

According to Fox news

David Chipman, Joe Biden’s planned nominee for director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, has a long history at the agency and sports credentials in gun control advocacy sure to excite firearm safety groups.

Chipman, if confirmed, would return to the agency where he worked for 25 years as a special agent.
While at the ATF, he “disrupted firearms trafficking operations in Virginia that were supplying illegal guns to New York City, served as a member of ATF’s version of SWAT, and was named the Special Agent in Charge of ATF’s Firearms Programs,” according to his bio on the website for Giffords. He currently serves as a senior policy adviser at the organization led by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who became a gun control advocate after being shot in 2011.
She praised Chipman as “the perfect choice” for director in a statement Wednesday.
“The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives needs a strong, experienced leader and I am confident that David Chipman will be just that. As a former ATF special agent, from day one David will be able to address the most pressing issues facing the bureau, including reducing gun violence in this country,” said Giffords, who had represented an Arizona district.
Giffords has partnered numerous times with Mom’s Demand Action, Everytown for Gun Safety and other George Soros funded anti-gun organizations and now they rejoice as one of their own is in charge of Federal Law Enforcement.
National Rifle Association spokesperson Amy Hunter said Biden’s decision to nominate Chipman to lead the ATF and tap former Judge Merrick Garland as attorney general, who was confirmed in March and has expressed support for gun-control policies, “has made clear his sights are set on restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners while ignoring criminals and foregoing substantive measures that will actually keep Americans safe.”

“Further, the proposals Biden announced tonight could require law-abiding citizens to surrender lawful property and enable states to expand gun confiscation orders,” Hunter said. “The NRA will fight this nomination and ill-conceived executive actions.”

Speaking before the House Judiciary Committee in 2019, Chipman argued that “assault weapons like the semi automatic AR-15 … are identical to those used by the military.”

“If our goal is to balance the rights of responsible, law-abiding gun owners and the urgent need to keep particularly dangerous weapons out of the hands of criminals, simply reinstating the 90s-era ban on assault weapons is not enough,” Chipman said at the time.

He argued instead that lawmakers could consider requiring the registration of “all existing assault weapons in the hands of civilians … while banning the future manufacture and sale of these weapons,” as well as registration and tax requirements on sales of certain weapons such as “sawed-off shotguns, short-barrel rifles, machine guns” and accessories like silencers.
