A Video shows various protesters being sniped with gas grenades. Often maiming or killing their targets. Once would seem like an accident but this is happening multiple times showing that this is not a coincidence. According to Funker530 Iraqi security forces and pro-Iranian militias (PMU) are cracking down hard on the protestors in an attempt to drive them from downtown Baghdad. Approximately 270 people have been killed in the six weeks of Protests, with a reported 15,000 injured.
The Independent reports that Over the last month-and-a-half, however, there has been repeated use of snipers firing at random into demonstrations or targeting local protest leaders. The people doing the killing are parts of of the government’s highly fragmented security services and factions of the paramilitary Hashd al-Shaabi or Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) known to be aligned with Iran.
In the Shia holy city of Karbala on one day, snipers killed 18 people and survivors were detained by pop-up checkpoints as they fled through the alleyways.
