House Members Request More Security In Home Districts

According to Firearm Chronicles

The level of hypocrisy and lengths certain members of the political elite would go in how they operate truly shows no bounds. The country as a whole is on edge, but some politicians believe they should be afforded extra care in how they are looked after. As reported on CBS News, a contingent of members of the House of Representatives are seeking more security:

More than 30 members of the Houseare asking their leaders if they may use their congressional allowances to augment their personal safety in their home districts by hiring local law enforcement or other security personnel, according to a letter sent to House leaders Nancy Pelosi and Kevin McCarthy

This request comes on the heels of unsubstantiated fears for their safety. For this group of public masters, they think that their position should afford them a greater standard of safety and protection than the public. Further from the article:

Authored by Democratic Representatives Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey and Dean Phillips of Minnesota, the letter is addressed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and the chairwoman and ranking member of the House Administration Committee, Representatives Zoe Lofgren, Democrat of California, and Rodney Davis, Republican of Illinois. There are joined by 29 other Democrats and one Republican, Michigan Representative Fred Upton.

The irony of the situation should escape no one.

First, all but one member that signed the letter are affiliated with the Democrat party. The same party that has continued assault on the 2nd Amendment and has made calls for defunding the police.

Second, Representative Pelosi just recently had a hissy fit about members taking their personal security into their own hands, by imposing a $5,000 fine for any representative that choses to ignore metal detectors now installed at the entrance to the House chamber (members of Congress, unlike the general public, are permitted to carry inside the Capitol but not on the House or Senate floor).

Maybe these members not look into the avenues that they have available to be armed in their home states and capitol? If Representative Gotthimer sought a concealed carry permit in his home state of New Jersey, would he be issued one? New Jersey’s harsh and unconstitutional laws keep ordinary citizens from carrying firearms, but a member of Congress like Gotthimer would likely be among the privileged few to receive a carry permit in the Garden State.

If these members are worried about their personal safety, imagine what their constituents are going through. With violent crime soaring and many Democrats in Congress eagerly advocating for more gun control laws that would make them less safe, it’s no wonder that Americans are arming themselves in record numbers.

We can probably all agree more security is needed for all not just those sitting in the chairs supported by the backs of us peasants. These leaders should be urged to support nationwide Constitutional Carry and Reciprocity through all the states.
