Here we go again. You may remember an earlier article we covered were a female officer was threatened with a handgun and responded by screaming and pleading with the suspect until back up finally arrived and put the threat down. It was apparent she did not know how to handle the situation and lacked the proper training… This time that is not the case.
Sheriffs Deputy Riley Jarecki reacted quickly and moved out of the way of the suspects weapon before he could get a shot off. She was able to get out of the fatal funnel and if you look closely at the video her body is not squared with the suspects window. Her quick thinking and reaction is due to great training and is ultimately what saved her life.
This Body Worn Camera footage depicts the Attempted Murder of Napa County Sheriff’s Deputy Riley Jarecki on February 17th, 2019. The decedent, Javier Hernandez Morales, fired the first shots. Deputy Jarecki returned fire. She was not physically injured. Hernandez Morales died at the scene.
