MILWAUKEE – Molson Coors said Wednesday there was an active shooter on its Milwaukee campus and ordered its employees to find a safe place to hide.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office said it had not yet been called to the scene, 3939 W. Highland Blvd.

The Milwaukee Fire Department was responding and Milwaukee police were also responding to what they called a critical incident. They asked people to stay away from the scene.

The company told employees in an email that the active shooter was located in or near South Packaging, Building 4, second-floor stairwell.

James Boyles spoke with the Journal Sentinel. He said his wife, Lasonya Ragdales, works at Molson Coors in the claims department. She has been told that there is an active shooter and she is locked in a room with co-workers. She was texting him from inside the building.

Police responded at 2:11 p.m. to 4115 W. State St. for a report of a shooting.

Officers from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette University Police Department and the U.S. Marshals were also responding. Officials with the ATF and FBI were also on the scene.

Police blocked off the scene at North 35th and West State. Highway 175 was also closed at West State and Vliet.
