Fire truck burst into flames while responding to emergency
Firefighters who rushed to the scene of an emergency, were shocked when the cabin of their fire truck began to fill with smoke, according to police in Canada.
The Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency service said that they have lost the fire truck after the engine burst into flames due to leaking oil.
The incident unfolded on Thursday, at around 9:30 a.m., while four firefighters were rushing to a medical emergency.
Suddenly, the truck began making loud sounds.
The driver pulled over to the side of the road, and ordered everyone out of the truck immediately as the cabin began filling up with smoke.
The four firefighters suffered from minor smoke inhalation. The firefighters then removed all the expensive equipment from the truck, and another crew came to extinguish the fire.
Investigators noticed grease or oil on top of the engine. Deputy Chief Roy Hollett called the incident ironic.
On Twitter, Halifax Fire wrote: “Fire truck on fire at West Porters. Lake Rd. Road shut down at Bellefontaine and at Julien Lane. A spare engine replaced the truck that was on fire. It will report to Stn 23 (Chezzetcook). No interruption of service.”
Later in the day, the fire department wrote: “West Porters Lake Road at Bellefontaine Rd. is open again after this morning’s fire truck fire.”
