A nurse was banned from working with sick people after being accused of injuring a paralyzed woman, according to prosecutors in Ohio.
The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said that 35-year-old Melanie D. Oliver, has been convicted of patient endangerment.
Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Dennis Langer sentenced Oliver to serve 6 months in jail and 5 years probation.
The judge has also banned her from having any contact with patients.
According to the police investigation, Oliver had been working for the Alliance Healthcare Partners, when she was accused of abusing her patient.
The patient was a quadriplegic. One day, Oliver threatened to burn the demons out of her patient. Oliver then lit a cigarette lighter and burned her patient’s private parts.
Oliver also forcefully kissed the patient.
The nurse also threatened to harm the woman if she told anyone about the abuse. The patient reported the abuse and police were called.
Police officers who arrived at the scene, noticed burns on the patient’s private parts.
