Homeless Veterans before Refugees! Let’s take care of those who protected us first!

Did you know that according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, that 1 out 4 Homeless people on the streets are Veterans?

“In 2010, the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) estimated that on any given night there were 76,000 homeless veterans sleeping on American streets…” according to DVNF.ORG.

DVNF goes on to say that, “The VA served more than 92,000 homeless veterans in 2009. With an estimated 500,000 veterans homeless at some time during the year, the VA reaches 20% of those in need, leaving 400,000 veterans without supportive services…” (Read More)

These are the Men and Women that selflessly volunteered themselves. That risked life and limb, who gave of themselves so others wouldn’t have to. And now they have been thrown to the way side.

These are my Brothers and Sisters. These are the unsung heroes of America, and they are largely forgotten and ignored.

Meanwhile, people want to bring in thousands upon thousands of un-vetted refugees into the country. Is it sad that some of these people are trying to flee a war torn Middle East? Yes.

But we can’t even take care of our own service members. And now we’re supposed to give “hand-me-outs” to people from nations that largely HATE everything America stands for?

Shame on you people.

“…Well Spike, what are you doing for the Homeless Veterans?” I am sure someone is going to ask.

I have started a Christian Veterans Outreach Ministry. “The Fisherman Soldier“. We are working on building relations with local Veterans operations in my local area to help in anyway possible for the homeless Veterans, returning Combat Veterans, etc… Whether it be food drives, blankets, clothing, skill training for job placement…

Whatever we can do to help. Even holding Bible studies for those that would like to attend. Maybe bring the Word to them that need it.

Should we be concerned for ALL of those in need? Yes of course. Should we be cautious about who we let into our country? Absolutely. Should we tend to matters on our own home front before we try and help others including the Men and Women who sacrificed to defend our Nation. You bet your butt we should!
