Help Remember A Hero

This Was Sent to me by a personal friend of the deputy-read it

On Saturday 8/15/2015 at 2:18AM 35-year-old United States Marine Corps Veteran and Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Howell was dispatched along with several Deputies to a Domestic Violence call. It was reported that a man was brutally attacking a woman and there were three young children in the house. When he arrived Deputy Howell saw a woman who had clearly been beaten but what he didn’t know is the suspect was armed and lying in wait for the Deputies, the suspect knew the victim called 911 for help. As Deputy Howell approached the house to talk to the suspect he ambushed, shot and mortally wounded Deputy Howell. Even after being mortally wounded he was able to fire off 17 rounds killing the suspect before the suspect turned the gun on the other Deputies, the woman or the children. This man died a hero saving a woman and three children as well as several Sheriff’s Deputies.

Deputy Howell and his family have given a lot for this country. Deputy Howell’s father served in the Military in Vietnam and was recently on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. and was a Fire Fighter out here. His family has over 100 years of service to our country, which is amazing. His brother is a Corrections Officer. Deputy Howell was a Boy Scout, United States Marine, and Volunteer Fire Fighter all in addition to being a Sheriff’s Deputy. Deputy Howell was also a recipient of the Carson City Sheriff’s Department Medal of Honor, which is the Sheriff’s Department’s highest award.

Deputy Howell leaves behind a father, brother, wife, and four young children. I knew Deputy Howell and worked with him and I am putting together a Memorial Music Festival and fundraiser for his family. On the 2nd anniversary of his death. It will be a concert with several local and national bands, celebrities, comedians, a silent auction, raffle, food and drinks. All proceeds will be going to the four young kids of Deputy Howell. It will also be promoted on several local and national media outlets. I would like to invite you to be a part of this amazing event. I feel that a donation from your company would be an awesome addition to our raffle prizes, and we would list you on our website as an official event sponsor. It will be on a Saturday August 19th, 2017. This event is not for profit and all proceeds will be going to Deputy Howell’s four young children.
