Who knew that Obummer was actually good for something other than scandals and giving massive amounts of money and weapons to our enemies?
During his reign of terror, President Obama was actually a benefit to the firearms community. Sales sky rocketed and more and more firearms manufacturers sprung up all across the country. But now with a Pro-2A President and a Republican congress in control, the tides have turned.
With firearm sales down almost 17 percent, many gun dealers and manufacturers are beginning to feel the pinch on their profits.
At least locally for me, this has not affected the prices of firearms, ammunition and accessories. Yet.
I think it is only a matter of time before prices drop and sadly we may yet see the closing of local dealers doors, and the laying off of employees from manufacturing jobs if the sales continue to drop the way they are.
While this is bad for local stores and peoples jobs, I am actually a little eager for prices to drop. I might actually be able to afford some of the weapons systems that I have been salivating over for the past 8 years.
The Washington Post reported that the FBI conducted about 500,000 fewer background checks in December 2016 then in 2015. Gun sales this year have reportedly dropped about 17 percent.
From 2004 to 2013, sales of all handguns — pistols and revolvers — increased nearly five fold, according to industry figures. Sales of rifles tripled in that time frame.
