Literally. One of the many reasons not to stand that close to the tracks.

The Dailymail reports

A law student experienced every New Yorker’s worst nightmare when she fainted and fell on to the subway tracks in Brooklyn.

Rikke Bukh, 22, fell into the path of a Manhattan-bound train at the Bedford Avenue station in Williamsburg as it approached the platform on Thursday around 11.15am.

‘Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Did I hit her?’ the L-train operator said, while jumping out to see if the woman was OK, according to the New York Post.

Miraculously, Bukh survived her fall as she landed between the rail and platform wall.

The young woman became dizzy and fell off-balance, off the platform and down into the track area, police told the New York Post.

‘The train stopped, and she was underneath it,’ Basch said.

‘It was a terrifying thing to witness. You consider, oh my God, did I just watch somebody die?’

Twitter user @rhettrowan was also upset. ‘Praying to whatever god is out there for the girl next to me who just fell onto the L train track,’ the user wrote.

‘I am completely traumatized my limbs are numb… I feel powerless.’

First responders arrived quickly, freeing Bukh after about 20 minutes pinned under the train.

Those watching were thankful firefighters got her out of there relatively quickly.

‘I have to say, it was a comforting thing to see MTA employees were able to rush to respond like that,’ Basch said.

‘You have to give them credit. Everyone was really on top of it.’

Her neighbor Don Lewis, 60, said she is well-liked in the community. ‘She says “hi” to everyone, and I feel horrible she has to go through this. You can’t help if you faint, but this is why you should stay away, far away from the tracks,’ he said.
